Greek policeman loses his life after floods rush through central Evvoia.

    Firemen and other specialist rescue workers were sent to the scene.

    Heavy rains hit various parts of Greece overnight, including the capital Athens, which only weeks ago was being threatened by massive wildfires.

    Experts had warned that the fires of recent years which have destroyed forests in both the Athens region and Evvoia would heighten the risk of flooding with the approach of winter.
