Train hits Romania wedding bus

Eight people killed as train slams into bus carrying guests home from a wedding.

    The train hit the bus side on, killing eight people and injuring 24 others.

    Driver alerted

    Eyewitnesses said that passengers alerted the bus driver, who later was among the dead, that there was a train on the track, but he appeared not to heed the warning.

    The bus was taking more than 30 people back to their homes from a wedding in a nearby village.

    Dan Fatuloiu, Romania's chief police officer, arrived at the scene of the accident later on Sunday.

    An investigation is under way.
