US opens way for talks with moderate Taliban
As the US withdraws from Iraq, Barack Obama, the president, has turned his attention to Afghanistan.
He has warned that the 17,000 extra American troops will not be enough to win the war and so a reconciliation process with moderate Taliban is needed.
However, elements of the Taliban refuse to talk until American forces withdraw.
