North Koreans refugees’ perilous journey to freedom
Thailand has rejected a South Korea proposal to set up refugee centres in Thailand for hundreds of North Koreans who have fled there. South Korea usually grants asylum to North Koreans in Thailand, but there is a backlog.
An estimated two hundred thousand North Korean refugees live illegally in other Asian countries, fleeing harsh conditions in their homeland.
