Sixty years ago this week, North Korea emerged in the aftermaths of World War II as a new nation.

And since then it has been one of the world’s most secretive and repressive societies.  It is also one of the few remaining communist countries.

Our correspondent Mark Seddon travelled to Pyonyang ahead of the anniversary to get an insiders perspective.
