London is to play host to the 30th Olympiad come 2012, and it plans to stage the games for about half the $40bn the Chinese spent.
In acknowledging that the Chinese act will be a tough one to follow, the British press is already calling for an event that relies on wit, flair and quirkiness, rather than the grandiose spectacle that was the Beijing Olympics.
