World leaders have held talks at the United Nations summit on climate change and sustainable development in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
Meanwhile, people in the country’s Amazon region have voiced concern about the destruction of their land caused by rampant logging and pollution by companies operating in their area.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo took a weeklong boat journey along the Amazon river to visit remote communities and find out what their residents thought of Rio+20.
A teacher in one of the villages said: “I always tell the kids: All we have comes from nature. If we destroy it, we are destroying ourselves. Only humans come and destroy nature. The animals that live here don’t destroy anything.”
