New York county clamps down on ‘exam cheats’
Twenty criminally charged after students allegedly paid others to take their college entrance tests.

A major cheating scandal has changed the way college entrance exams, known as the SAT and ACT, are administered in the US.
Twenty people have been criminally charged after turning themselves into police custody on Monday in Nassau County, a New York suburb, after school officials discovered students were allegedly paying recent graduates thousands of dollars to take their standardised tests by impersonating them.

Nassau County is one of of the few municipalities to file criminal charges in a school cheating scandal.
Kathleen Rice, the state’s district attorney, believes the problem is even more widespread and is pushing for nationwide testing procedures to be tightened.
