UN debates renewed Iran sanctions

Security Council members are set to vote on a package of economic sanctions against Iran.

    Robert Gates, the US secretary of defence, has said the stage is set for the UN Security Council to impose renewed sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.

    But Turkey and Brazil, who brokered a deal to swap Iran's low-enriched uranium for fuel rods, are saying more debate is needed.
