ABS-CBN closure: 4,000 jobs cut at Filipino broadcaster

The network was forced to let go of thousands of its employees after Congress voted against the renewal of its licence.

At least 4,000 employees of the Philippines’ biggest media network have lost their jobs.

ABS-CBN is shutting down many of its operations and regional news bureaus.

The network was forced off-air in May after Congress refused to renew its licence.
