COVID-19: Latin America could be ‘new hotspot’

Deaths in the region now account for nearly half of daily coronavirus deaths worldwide.

Global health leaders are referring to Latin America as the world’s “new hotspot” for COVID-19 infections.

Several countries in the region now rank among those with the highest per capita infection rates.

And as cases continue to soar, at least three leaders have now contracted the novel coronavirus.
