Iraq protests: New nomination for prime minister due on Monday

Violent protests sparked by lack of opportunities grip Iraq as demonstrators take to streets demanding political change.

Iraq’s president has until the end of Monday to nominate a new prime minister.

Adel Abdul Mahdi stepped down after more than 400 people died during weeks of anti-government protests.

Despite his resignation, demonstrators are still demanding an overhaul of the political system.
