Trump impeachment inquiry: How did members vote on rules measure?

A deeply divided US House of Representatives took a major step in the effort to impeach President Donald Trump on Thursday when politicians approved rules for the next stage, including public hearings, in the Democratic-led inquiry into Trump’s attempt to have Ukraine investigate a domestic political rival.

Two Democrats broke party ranks to vote “no”, and one former Republican-turned-Independent, voted “yes”. The two Democrats were Collin Peterson from Minnesota and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey. Trump won Peterson’s district by 30 percentage points in 2016. Van Drew’s district went for Trump by 4.6 points in 2016, according to Ballotpedia. 

The lone former Republican to vote for the impeachment inquiry was Justin Amash of Michigan, who announced his support for the impeachment in July after reading the report of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.
