Malaysia’s vast land reclamation plan criticised by activists

The controversial Penang South Reclamation project will destroy rich fishing grounds and the environment.

Malaysia‘s authorities are building three artificial islands in the northern state of Penang.

It is part of an effort to develop the region and provide more economic opportunities.

But activists are concerned about its effect on the environment and the fishermen there say it will decimate the Penang’s seas which teem with life.
