Amazon fires: Soldiers join volunteers to battle fire

More than 1.5 million hectares of Bolivia's Amazon and Chiquitano tropical forests have been destroyed by fire.

    Troops have joined thousands of volunteers from across South America to battle wildfires in Bolivia.

    The fires along the Amazon have been burning out of control for weeks, doubling in size since Thursday.

    Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from San Ignacio in eastern Bolivia.
