Afghan poverty: Many struggle to make ends meet

The situation remains bleak for millions of Afghans who have suffered under war and poverty.

    Afghanistan has received billions of dollars in aid over the past 18 years but it still remains one of the poorest countries in the world.

    More than half the population live below the national poverty line.

    As Al Jazeera's Sara Khairat reports, many feel abandoned by their government.
