Mali president to announce new prime minister and government

The opposition rejects any possibility for a unity government, and is asking the president to also step down.

Mali's Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga resigned on Thursday after protests in Bamako earlier this month.

With threats of more unrest, the president is now in talks with the opposition to form a new government.

Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports from Bamako.
