China film industry: Beijing balances censorship and growth

China has been quietly allowing more foreign films to be imported, while domestic production has slowed down.

China‘s film industry has grown rapidly over the last decade making it the second-biggest in the world.

This week’s Beijing Film Festival is meant to showcase its rise, but with several scandals and local censorship stifling creativity, the event is facing challenges.
