Kashmiris strike after school teacher dies in police custody

Civil society groups have begun a three-day strike in the region in protest death of a school teacher in a police station near the state capital, Srinagar.

Indian-administered Kashmir is once again under curfew.

The death of a school teacher in a police station on the outskirts of the state capital Srinagar has caused outrage.

Rizwan Asad, 28, died while in custody and a police investigation is under way, but Rizwan’s brother says that he was tortured and then murdered.
