An island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay on the east coast of the US state of Virginia is literally sinking.

Its inhabitants are bracing to become among the first climate change refugees of North America.

But as the planet's temperature rises, the inhabitants of Tangier Island, Virginia refuse to believe global warming exists.

Al Jazeera's Heidi Zhou-Castro reports from Tangier, Virginia.
