May tries to renegotiate Brexit deal in Brussels talks

May survived a no-confidence vote triggered by her own party’s MPs, but her hopes of reopening negotiations on the Brexit deal seem likely to founder on the continent.

Britain‘s prime minister says she’s not expecting an “immediate breakthrough” as she tries to renegotiate her Brexit deal.

Theresa May spent Thursday meeting European Union leaders in Brussels.

Just a day earlier, she survived a confidence vote triggered by her own MPs, who were unhappy with her withdrawal agreement.

In Brussels, many EU leaders, however eager to avoid a “no-deal” Brexit, are sceptical that the deal can be renegotiated.
