Remembering sacrifice: France honours African WWI troops

A century on, France finally recognises the sacrifices made by the tens of thousands of African and Asian soldiers in world war one.

They are often forgotten, but in world war one, tens of thousands of African and Asian soldiers died on the Western Front in Europe.

For decades, little attention has been paid to these soldiers.

A century on, there are new efforts to remember their sacrifice.
