Protests in Balkans to stop dams and protect rivers

Environmentalists say building a hydroelectric dam is comparable to cutting down a tropical rainforest.

An environmental battle in the Balkans is heating up, with a group of women determined to stop a network of rivers from running dry.

Nearly 2,700 hydroelectric dams are planned in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ecologists are terming it a tsunami of dams that will profoundly alter the whole region.
