President Buhari, 78 others in the fray for Nigerian polls

Nigeria gears up for its presidential election next year.

Campaigning has begun for what is expected to be Nigeria’s most expensive presidential election.

A record 79 candidates are in the race, including the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. But his hopes of re-election are threatened by criticism of his handling of the economy and the war against Boko Haram.

The Nigerian presidential election will be held in February 2019.
