Female MPs gather in UK to celebrate a century of suffrage

To mark the 100-year anniversary of women’s suffrage in the UK, female MPs from 86 countries gather to appreciate the efforts of suffragettes past and hope to inspire future generations of women.

Female politicians from 86 countries have gathered in the UK parliament to mark 100 years since women in Britain got the right to vote.

But apart from celebrating past progress, the event also aimed to inspire future generations of female politicians.

The gathering hopes to launch a new push for female involvement in politics, where they say women still face suspicion and opposition from male-dominated societies.
