Bhutan: What it means to be happy in the ‘happiest country’

We are in the birthplace of ‘gross national happiness’ to find out how a country measures happiness.

Bhutan is the only country in the world to measure success not by economic growth but by “gross national happiness”.

The philosophy has been at the centre of all government policy for the past 10 years.

But development over the years is putting the ideal of happiness under strain.
