Zimbabwe opposition urges fair election ahead of landmark vote

Electoral commission accused of failing to prepare to prevent rigging for first vote without long-time ruler Robert Mugabe’s candidacy.

Zimbabwe’s main opposition party and thousands of its supporters are rallying in the capital Harare to call for free and fair elections.

The country will head to the polls on July 30, the first without long-time ruler Robert Mugabe.

But the electoral commission has already been accused of failing to prepare properly for the vote to prevent rigging and ghost ballots.
