Toronto gun violence: Politicians call for ban on all handguns

Some are beginning to describe a 'summer of the gun' in Toronto as murder and gun crime rates are double what they were the previous year.

    Politicians in Canada's largest city are calling for a ban on all handguns following last week's shoot-out which killed three people, including a 10-year-old girl.

    Toronto has a reputation for being safe, but gun crime has risen recently.

    Police blame the increase on criminals smuggling weapons across the border from the United States.
