Report: UK aid sector ‘ignored’ sexual exploitation

Since exploitation of women in Haiti was exposed six months ago, a new report by the British parliament says lessons are still not being learned by the aid sector.

Humanitarian groups have been aware of, but not acting upon, allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse by their own staff for years – that is according to a report by the International Development Committee of the British parliament.

Recently, the UK-based aid group Oxfam saw several resignations after a scandal involving its staff in Haiti.
