Egypt’s el-Sisi in Sudan to discuss water, Halayeb

El-Sisi is going to Khartoum for his fifth visit since he came to power. On the agenda are the Nile’s waters and the disputed Halayeb triangle.

Egypt’s president is in Sudan to smooth tensions about water security and the disputed border region of Halayeb.

Relations have been strained between the two countries, particularly over Ethiopia’s construction of a hydro-electric dam on the Nile River, which Egypt is worried about while Sudan is in full support.
