California fire: 17 major cities burning in the state

California is now facing 17 major fires, covering a combined 80,940 hectares across the state, as wildfires continue to scorch large swaths of land, wreaking record levels of destruction.

    Major wildfires are affecting countries all around the world, but the state of California is being hit especially hard.

    At least six people have died, and seven remain unaccounted for.

    Firefighters say they have managed to contain almost 20 percent of the largest blaze.

    Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo reports from the city of Redding, where residents in one of the hardest hit areas are figuring out how to move forward.
