Is Mexico’s World Cup 2018 campaign aided by the supernatural?

Mexico’s self-proclaimed ‘head warlock’ is attempting to enlist spiritual guardians to aid the nation’s football team using mystical traditions that predate the invasion of Spanish conquistadors.

Mexico play South Korea on Saturday, and following their opening win over Germany, Mexicans are hopeful their team can reach the last 16.

However, they’ve been knocked out in the second round of the tournament for the last six World Cups, so some Mexicans are turning paranormal help both from the Catholic Church and from traditions that predate the arrival of Europeans.
