Efforts under way to improve water quality in China’s Erhai Lake

Last April, all restaurants and hotels beside the famous lake in the ancient town of Dali were ordered to suspend their business and undergo environmental inspections.

It is one of the most popular tourist spots in southwest China‘s Yunnan province.

Erhai Lake in Dali draws up to 40 million visitors each year.

But the crowds proved to be too much and now the lake has been temporarily closed over concerns about water quality.
