President Trump says he will not back down on his plan to impose stiff tariffs on imported steel and aluminium, despite warnings that it could start a global trade war.

    US President Donald Trump has refused to back down on his plan to impose new tariffs on steel imports.

    He is due to sign off on the measure by the end of the week.

    Several countries have threatened to retaliate, warning the move could start a global trade war.
