The row generated by the president's words has overshadowed the US holiday dedicated to slain civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr.

Donald Trump has again denied he used a vulgar term to describe African countries as the United States marks Martin Luther King Day.

The president has spent the day playing golf in Florida - a day where community leaders ask for people to step up and serve their community as a living memorial for the dead civil rights leader.
