From the #MeToo movement to protests, to more women running for office, the election of Donald Trump, whose admissions of sexual assault were caught on tape, has energised the women's movement in the US.

    The #MeToo movement has been in the global spotlight in the past few months.

    It has empowered women to speak out about sexual harassment and abuse.

    But the election of Donald Trump as the US president has also played into that movement and had a clear effect on women in politics in general.
