Migrants in Europe: Desperate journeys across mountains

Over the last three months, at least 1500 migrants have embarked on a dangerous journey over the Alps, crossing from Italy into France, defying freezing temperatures and heavy snow.

    Over the last three months, at least 1500 migrants have embarked on a dangerous journey over the Alps, crossing from Italy into France, defying freezing temperatures and heavy snow.

    Rescuers in the Alps say they're concerned about the number of refugees and migrants trying to cross the snow-covered mountains of Europe.

    Half of those making the journey are thought to be children or teenagers.
