Qatar blockade: GCC summit unlikely to resolve crisis

    Kuwait is expected to host a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council starting on Tuesday. It comes as the regional alliance is facing its worst crisis in decades, with the blockade of Qatar.

    More than six months ago, four countries imposed an air, sea and land blockade on Qatar.

    "The reality is that the [GCC] summit will not bring a resolution to the Qatari crisis, but nor is it intended to resolve disputes," reads a commentary published by the UAE's state-run WAM news agency on Sunday.
