Liberia waits for runoff election preliminary results

Liberia’s election commission is expected to announce official preliminary results in the presidential runoff on Thursday.

Former soccer star George Weah claims he’s on track for victory – but his opponent Vice President Joseph Boakai says it’s too close to call.

Whoever wins the election will inherit an economy battered by falling prices for Liberia’s main exports of rubber and iron ore, and a currency rapidly losing its value.

Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Adow reports from Monrovia.
