Tillerson's next stop is Pakistan, where fighting the Taliban and US requests for "counterterrorism" support are expected to dominate talks with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Pakistan's new prime minister - recently elected in August.

Then on to India, where the Trump administration hopes to expand ties, to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
