Aleppo was once Syria’s commercial hub and a popular tourist destination.
Now, the country’s second city is divided between government forces in the west and anti-government fighters in the east.
Residents, who are caught in the middle, are unable to leave, and are trying to survive with little or no food, water and electricity.
Al Jazeera met one of Aleppo’s many families, who live with the constant threat of gunfire, barrel bombs and even chemical attacks.
