    This little time-lapse shows how the historic events of US Election Day 2016 unfolded.

    Our producers Kate Gray and Sorin Furcoi set up the map, sugar cubes and camera rig.

    Each sugar cube represents one electoral college vote: blue food dye for a Democrat win, red food dye for a Republican win.
