India’s ‘Zero Landless’ initiative falls short
Some of the poorest people in southern state of Kerala say a land redistribution scheme has failed them.

Thousands of people across the Indian state of Kerala plan to protest over an unsuccessful land redistribution scheme.
The “Zero Landless” initiative was launched in 2013 to provide land for poor households. As part of the scheme, each family was supposed to be allotted 121 square metres of land.
So far just over 10 percent of the applicants have been given deeds, with even fewer receiving their plots.
Al Jazeera’s Divya Gopalan reports from Kerala’s Alappuzha district, which has the least amount of land allotted.
