Palestinian officials demand safe passage from Yarmouk

Thousands of Palestinian refugees remain trapped in besieged Damascus district invaded by ISIL.

Palestinian officials are trying to secure the safe passage of Palestinians caught in the fighting in the Yarmouk camp in Syria.

It has been a week since ISIL stormed the district, which before the start of the Syrian conflict housed more than 160,000 Palestinians and Syrians.

Some Palestinians who have fled Yarmouk have now resettled in the West Bank, but many of them have relatives still trapped in the war zone.
