Historic city centre is in ruins and threat from snipers and bombardment makes life a daily struggle for many.

The battle for Aleppo began a year after the uprising started in Syria. Since then, the former commercial hub has been turned into an urban battleground.

The city has been divided into rebel-held and government-held territory and the threat from bombardment and snipers makes life a daily struggle.
