    One of most important stories of our time is climate change, the main issue on the agenda at the Conference of Parties (COP) 21 in Paris.

    About 40,000 negotiators from nearly 200 countries are descending on the French capital for the UN conference on climate change.

    The decisions they make will have a major impact on how we live our lives and those of future generations.

    Al Jazeera's Environment Editor Nick Clark explains how the burning of more fuel releases more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, making the environment warmer.
