NYC’s Lonesome George to be sent home

The last Pinta Island Tortoise, preserved at the American Museum of Natural History in 2012, to be sent back to Ecuador.

A tortoise, known as Lonesome George, was brought to New York’s American Museum of Natural History after its death in 2012.

It took a taxidermist a year to preserve its skin and shell, replacing his internal organs with foam.

Lonesome George will now be sent back to his home in Ecuador.
