Iranian Kurds have been travelling to Iraq to join the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Most of them join Iraqi Kurdish fighters, known as Peshmerga, who are trying to recapture territory from ISIL.
Peshmerga fighters have been instrumental in securing their own territory as well as areas abandoned by Iraqi security forces, during the ISIL’S advance last year.
