Thailand frees dissident journalist

Outspoken critic of military government released from second detainment after ‘attitude adjustment’.

Thai authorities have released an outspoken critic of the country’s military government from detention. It was the second time journalist Pravit Rojanaphruk was called in for a so-called “attitude adjustment”.

Rojanaphruk’s detention brought sharp criticism from international human rights groups and underlined the limits of freedom of speech under the government, which has resumed a crackdown on dissent since a military coup in 2014.
