Is Dylann Roof a loner or a white supremacist?

A picture is beginning to develop of the life of Dylann Roof and his motivation for the church attack in which nine African-Americans were killed.

The 21-year-old white man was a loner with a recent police record of minor offences, and known for making racist remarks.
